So a few posts ago I wrote a blog about roller coaster Christianity. As I have been reading Philippians more, I see the concept Paul is addressing here while he is talking about walking in freedom. He is addressing the religious, and telling them that it isn't about what they have accomplished. Paul is saying.....look, i've done a lot for the Lord, but I am not going to stop there...I am going to press on and not to settle for what i've attained already. I want more! I want it all!
I do think that this passage, as part of the living word has duality to it, and does definitely apply to our walks and the understanding that we cannot live in the past.
Here is the passage again:
Phil. 3:12, "Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. 15 All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. 16 Only let us live up to what we have already attained." My friends, embrace the truth that God loves you.
oh...So I am coming back to the States in four days. It's gonna be a huge change. I am ready, but there is now a deep love in my heart for this place.
Many blessings in Christ. May our Father receive the Honor always
