Haha

OK I just have to share how blown away I am right now because I am in the Miami airport...in America...and almost every person I have talked to doesn't speak English!!!! These are people who work here! Haha this just makes me smile. I have had some amazingly broken conversations and have met some awesome people from Peru and Brazil. While we may be speaking at the level of a two year old, I can feel the warmth and genuine kindness of the South Americans I have met.

Another funny note....latino women dress so sassy! I would have never guessed that women would wear high heel shoes to travel in, let alone at 3am. Every latino looks so put together and ready to go to a photo shoot.

Oh and I was sitting at my gate and started chit chatting with a guy who turns out to be a pretty famous professional surfer. I know Hunter and Dylan will be happy to hear this.

Needless to say, it's already been quite exciting and I haven't even left the US. Thank you Jesus

I'm off!

I am sitting in the Miami airport and it's 12:13 in the morning. My journey to Costa Rica has begun, and I am already experiencing an incredible adventure. Here in Miami my eyes are opened yet again to what a huge world we live in. Sometimes I get so caught up with the goings on in my own little world, that I forget how truly HUGE the world actually is! SO many cultures, faces, stories.... Where are these people going? Do they know how loved they are?!? It will be fun experiencing another world for the next few months, and the incredible beauty that I have never even seen or ever had any exposure to.

I have never been to Miami.... and it's too bad I can't go explore right now. I'm sure one day I will come here again.

My heart is overflowing with excitement, anticipation and joy as I try to imagine what the Lord has in store for me this summer. I am interning with Answering the Call, which is a missions organization based out of Roanoke, VA. Refugio Solte is the missions base in Uvita, Costa Rica where I will be staying. It's a beautiful retreat center, located on top of a mountain. (Well this is what I gather from friends, and pics). I'll give a better discription once i'm there seeing it with my own blue eyes. The first month is a girl's discipleship program, which starts right away. We'll have 7 girls, most of whom are recent high school grads. Tomorrow i'll meet all of them at the airport in San Jose, and then we will travel three hours north to Uvita. My official title is the "Mountain Mama" and will help teach, lead, and love these girls for the next month. Then the end of the month my sweet friends Heather and Erin will join me as interns and will be with me for the rest of the summer. The second month is the guy's discipleship program, which will mostly consist of serving them through cooking and cleaning. Throughout the summer we will also have different missions groups that we will serve who come to Costa Rica with churches and various groups.

Holy Spirit is going to really use this time to shape and mold the lives of everyone on the mountain. Please keep all of us in your prayers. We are proclaiming and believing the Lord for safety and good health, freedom, intimacy, amazing fellowship, and the overwhelming joy that comes from the reality of God's grace. I was really encouraged by Romans 13:11 today where Paul says that it is time to awake from sleep. The Lord longs for us to experience life, and the depth of walking with Him... so much that we are commanded to awake from our sleep.I don't know about you, but I cringe at the thought of being asleep and missing out on the sweet and satisfying presence of my King. I can see how I am still waking up to the glory and reality of grace in my life. The more I do though, the more I feel like I am truly alive, completely satisfied, and overwhelmingly loved....Yes let us taste even more how truly good you are God. May the truth of your grace penetrate the core of our beings.

It's going to be a great summer : )

Many blessings your way
